Technique for playing Three Congas by SteveN Kroon

In this video lesson Steven Kroon demonstrates playing technique using three congas. He prefers a set up with three congas rather than two congas because of the melodic qualities and extra notes. It allows the conga player to add more excitement and flexibility to the music. Kroon also discusses tuning the drums to C, E, G.

Steven Kroon has been a professional musician for the last 35 years.  He began working with such notables as Luther Van Dross (from 1981 to 2001), with whom he performed on seven platinum albums and fifteen world tours (including two live video performances). He also performed on such television shows as The Tonight Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, and The Grammy Awards. Steven also performed with Ron Carter from 1987 to 2004, which included extensive tours of the U.S., Japan and Brazil, as well as the well-known NY Jazz scene. He also recorded with a “Who’s Who” in the recording business, including Roberta Flack, Bill Cosby, Aretha Franklin, and Diana Krall, just to name a few. More>
