The surge of interest in Brazilian music did not catch LP by surprise.
We have been perfecting our drums and we’re proud to release
the latest additions to our Brazilian collection. The new drums include
the LP Rio Tambourim and LP Rio Pandeiro.
The 6” head and 1¾” depth
of the new Rio Tambourim make grasping and manipulating the instrument
easy. A black synthetic head adds visual appeal and durability, while
all hardware is chromed including the tuners. Ten tuning screws are
spaced for a comfortable hand grip, while that comfort is enhanced
by a specially smoothed inner shell. Since the traditional Tambourim
is played vigorously, the new Rio Tambourim is built to keep on performing,
maintaining its tone. It may be struck with hands or with a beater.
This is not LP’s first pandeiro but it is the first truly authentic
Brazilian folkloric model. For those unacquainted, the pandeiro is
a Brazilian version of the ubiquitous tambourine, though dryer and
more contained. Accordingly, the Rio Pandeiro features a 10” head
with shallow 1¾” deep shell. The shell is lightweight
to reduce hand fatigue and foster the intricate, sustained rhythms
required of this typical samba instrument. Also promoting comfort is
a special smoothing
of the interior shell. Heads are attractive black synthetics,
offset nicely by chrome hardware. Seven tuning screws are well-spaced
to accommodate various hand sizes and to fix head tension securely.
Six sets of melodious, dry jingles produce the signature Brazilian
Pandeiro tone. A carry bag is also included.
Prices effective from January 2010. Subject to change without notice.
