Each year NAMM University sends out a panel of experts to scour the
halls. The panel searches for entries that can generate a buzz that’ll
carry from the Anaheim booths clear across America and overseas. On
the final day of Winter NAMM the panel cites a select few products
that qualify as recipients of the NAMM Best in Show award. In the past
LP has received many NAMM awards attesting to our popular options for
musicians and retailers. LP is proud to report that Winter NAMM 2009
was no exception. This year our new line of shakers won a Best of Show
under the category of Gotta Stock It in recognition of their broad
appeal to serious musicians and impulse buyers.
Last year, the unforgettable LP
GoJo Bags drew consensus from the
Best in Show experts. This year, NAMM again commended LP instruments
that were affordable, fascinating, and fun. “The Latin Percussion
Shakers—Vari-Tone, Cyclone (a joint effort between percussionist
Emedin
Rivera and LP’s Product Development Team), and Wah—were
naturals in this category,” explains NAMM University panelist
Ted Eschliman, co-owner of Dietz
Music (Lincoln, Nebraska). “Drummers
like bright, shiny things; you can never have enough toys. These LP
shakers come in nice point-of-purchase packaging and hang really nice
in retail displays.”
At LP we pledge our commitment to creating innovative tonal options
for percussionists everywhere. The way we see it, each item that makes
it into the LP product line is a winner. But it’s gratifying
to see our efforts acknowledged by the prestigious NAMM
University.
