Bobby Sanabria performs workshop
for children in Washington, d.c.

On February 11, 2004, the lives of over four hundred school children in the Washington D.C. area were enriched by an exciting educational and musical event that consisted of an inspirational performance and demonstration by dynamic drummer, percussionist, educator, and LP artist, Bobby Sanabria, and his group Quarteto Aché. The event took place at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater. Not only were the students, who attend grades five through eight, treated to an exceptionally engaging session, they were also each given an LP RhythMix Egg Shaker. As an extension of the rhythmic concepts being presented at the session, the gift of the shakers was met with enthusiasm.

Bobby Sanabria and Quarteto Aché also performed a live broadcast that was transmitted by satellite to schools across the country. The program was produced in cooperation with the Prince William Network and was broadcast from the C.D. Hylton High School auditorium as a part of the Kennedy Center Performing Arts Distance Learning Series that reaches schools in forty-five states. Both programs focused on the evolution of Latin Jazz from its roots in African rhythms to the hip-hop culture of today.
