Raciel Alvarez

Raciel Alvarez Raciel Alvarez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1979. His inclination for music comes his father, Ruben Alvarez, who performed with legendary Orchestra Ritmo Oriental in Cuba. As a child, Raciel would attend his father's rehearsals and live performances. He quickly observed and learned from many great musicians including Daniel Diaz, Juan Claro Bravo, and Enrique Lazaga. As a result, Raciel learned how to play the traditional rhythms of Cuba such as Danzon and Charanga.

After graduating from high school in Cuba, Raciel was determined to further his craft. After successfully playing with many important artists and popular orchestras of Cuba, including Reyes 73, Pedro Calvo y la Justicia (Pedro Calvo is former lead singer for Los Van Van), and the hit show Havana Night Club, Raciel decided to leave Cuba and move to the United States and continue performing and touring with the show, Havana Night Club.

Raciel performed with Havana Night Club at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada until 2006. Alvarez quickly established himself as one the premier independent percussionists in the Las Vegas area. Currently, he performs with many-respected musical acts including Miari from Japan, Michito Sanchez Salsa Orchestra, Las Vegas' Latin Breeze Orquestra, and Claudine Castro. Raciel is also involved with a new production that features many Cuban performers.
