MUNYUNGO ON TOUR WITH STEVIE WONDER
The exciting and expressive world-renowned percussionist Munyungo
Jackson has endorsed LP instruments since the early '80's. "I
love LP! When I'm traveling, wherever I play, Latin Percussion instruments
are there," he says. "You can find them anywhere in the world,
and they always sound consistently great." Munyungo is a consummate
musician, playing Jazz, Pop, African, Latin, R&B, and everything in-between.
Throughout his highly successful 40-year career, he's worked and/or recorded
with Miles, Sting, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Dianne Reeves, and
Queen Latifa. He has also worked with The Temptations, The Pointer
Sisters, The Supremes, and many other incredible artists, including Stevie
Wonder, with
whom he is currently touring. This is Munyungo's 15th year with Stevie. "The
Wonder Summer Nights Tour" began on June 18 at the Nikon at Jones Beach
Theater in Long Island, New York, and is continuing until July 12 throughout
the United States, starting back up again September 8 - September 30,
on a European tour. In between his tour with Stevie, Munyungo is going
to Norway at the end of July with the Hu Vibrational Percussion Trio,
which he describes as " a mixture of folkloric jungle jazz." Munyungo
just returned from a 12-city tour in Poland with the up-and-coming
jazz vocalist, Aga Zaryan, playing with another trio comprised of guitar,
bass and his beloved percussion instruments. To find out more about

 Richie's clinic Tour
Richie Gajate-Garcia recently
completed a South American clinic tour to Peru, Colombia and Venezuela
in front of standing-room-only audiences. In these clinics, Richie
demonstrated his mastery of multi-limb independence, as well as his ability
to "groove" the
drum part. "It was a thrill to be able to perform for the many drummers and
percussionists in South America who really appreciate the various
rhythms on congas, timbales,
and other
percussion instruments," recalls Richie. In addition, Richie conducted
question and answer sessions at each clinic in which the audience
members could solicit his advice on percussion and music in general. "I could
tell that they are very much into percussion by the types of thoughtful
and detailed questions they would ask."
tribute to mejias
Paoli Mejías received
recognition for his outstanding example as a role model by CEDICE, a

called Talento Del Barrio for low income youth in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
